Legacy Programme

The Legacy Programme at Masi Violin Outreach

At Masi Violin Outreach, we embrace the enduring power of music education to uplift lives and communities. Our visionary Legacy Programme seeks to establish a sustainable model by training alumni as proficient teachers, ensuring job opportunities for talented musicians within the community and securing the long-term success of the Masi Violin Outreach programme.

Language and Communication

In Masiphumelele, where isiXhosa prevails, bilingual teachers are indispensable. Alumni teachers like Ayabonga and Onke, who once experienced our program as students, bring a unique perspective to break down complex musical descriptions, creating a relatable and supportive learning environment.

Inspiration and Role Modeling

Alumni teachers in training, Ayabonga and Onke, stand as living proof of the transformative power of our program. Their journey from students to educators inspires current students, revealing the possibilities that music education can unlock.

Programme Continuity and Growth

Investing in alumni as teachers lays the foundation for the long-term sustainability and growth of Masi Violin Outreach. Alumni teachers have a personal interest in the program's success, having experienced its positive impact firsthand.

Cultural Connection

Alumni teachers share a deep cultural connection with the community, having faced similar challenges. This connection fosters trust and understanding, enhancing the learning environment for current students.

Masi Violinists has been based at our Campus since 2017/2020. They are one of 11 NGO’s on site, all working to the benefit and upliftment of the Masiphumelele Community through skills development and training.

The campus is filled with music in the afternoon and it is a delight to hear.

We have always had a good working relationship and they have played at a number of our events including one held at the British High Commissioners Residence.”
